Founded in 1945, Stafford originally sold Army surplus. To fill time between customers the founder, George Stafford, worked on repairing canvas items using an industrial sewing machine. One day a farmer asked him to sew Army cotton duck onto a pair of denim bib overalls to provide him with added protection for hunting. He was pleased with the result, and Stafford then had a steady stream of people asking for their clothing to be custom-faced.
Stafford eventually moved into making clothing for field sports, and then clothing inspired by field sports--such as these lovely tartan lined trousers.
Cut from sturdy cotton, these are flat-front and fully lined with cotton in a classic red tartan. They feature oversized belt loops for a sturdy field belt, and interior buttons for suspenders.
