Hat arrived with brim issues!

Today I have one of my new buys arrive, but the hat was packed in a box too small of the hat itself, which made the brim have some potato chip curls in it, any suggestions? Can I place the hat on my ironing board, cover the brim with a thick soft cotton clothe and iron this thing flat and re shape it? My Iron shoots steam like a locomotive!

Try a little steam from a stove top kettle. Then shape with your fingers.

Not sure you need to iron the brim flat in this instance but you can certainly use an iron on a hat; though I think a harder, stronger surface than an ironing board would be preferable. Here's a vid working an iron on straw:
