Hat band or ribbon

I ordered my Akubra Riverina because of the great price, but it's quickly becoming my favorite hat. The only thing I don't like about it is the cheap band it comes with. I was thinking of replacing it with a thin ribbon. What do you guys think, would that look good on this style hat, or would a leather band look better?

When you put the thin ribbon on your new hat, it would be a good idea to "tack" it in place with one or more stitches, even though it may not seem necessary, I learned the hard way. I had visited in someone's home and placed my hat (which had an unsecured thin ribbon on it) upside down, on the crown, the way hat shops recommend. (This is to preserve the curl of the brim.) When I left, I grabbed my hat and slapped it on my head. It was several days before I noticed the thin ribbon had fallen off! It was long gone, and I had to find another, which I tacked to the hat. :)

That's sounds like good advice. I'll go ahead and try it. Where would I get the ribbon from? Maybe the local western shop would have some. I'll try and post some pics when I get time.

I use a thin piece of double stick carpet tape to put mine in place til I get ready to 'tack' it down.

Give Mike Moore a PM [MajorMoore here on the Lounge] I am sure he would help ya out on the ribbon. Of course you would have to wait for it to ship, but he has some great ribbon at a good price.

By all means try a thin ribbon!!!!:D
It will look fantastic on this hat!
be sure to let everyone see how good it looks!

... No bias here though, your Honor. :D

Agreed though, a thin ribbon would look smashing on the Riverina, or even a hitched horsehair band. I look fwd. to the photos.
