Hat Cleaning Repair & Restoration: Where?

Hi all,

So we get a lot of customers calling and asking about hat repairs and cleaning, and we don't really do that at Paul's, except on our own hats. I was wondering if you all have recommendations of anyone in the Bay Area, California, or online. I figured you were the people to ask as you all buy a lot of vintage hats and get them refurbished. Any information is appreciated, and I hope some of you will get to come down to Paul's sometime soon for a cup of coffee.

I too use Gary White in Buffalo and do all of our business over the telephone. His service and the quality of his work are in all ways exceptional. Almost anyone can clean a hat, but Gary is also expert at even the most exacting repairs such as reshaping a brim, killing mildew, or patching a hole through the felt.

Well, I am looking for the hat repair guy in Illinois that isn't Optimo, but that makes me want to start a thread only for websites for contact info for places that repair hats.

One of the problems with The Lounge is that it is so damnably hard to find things. I've been looking for the one guy I want to find since last night and just can't find his name and info (I can't remember his name as I have not used his services yet). Maybe we can make this thread one of just recommended hat repair and restoration places? (note: Thanks to fmw and buler for telling me it was Falcon Park... I've added it to the list below)

So, from a few threads I've found these so far (and I have made sure all these links are current as of the posting of this thread)…

Art Fawcett, Oregon http://www.vintagesilhouettes.com

Buckaroo Hatters, Tennessee http://www.buckaroohatters.com/

Clean A Hat, MS http://cleanahat.com/

The Custom Hatter, New York http://www.custom-hatter.com/index.html

Hatman Jacks, Kansas http://www.360wichita.com/ClothingApparel/HatmanJacks.html

Henry The Hatter, Detroit http://www.henrythehatterdetroit.com/

Optimo, Chicago http://optimohats.com/

Tumwater Hats, Washington State (says they "occasionally take in renovation and alteration work") http://www.tumwaterhat.com/pages/prices.html

Worth and Worth, New York http://www.hatshop.com/site/hat-repair.php

Westerns

Arizona Hatters, AZ http://www.arizonahatters.com/

Catalena Hatters, Texas http://www.catalenahats.com/restoration.html

Greely Nat Works, Colorado https://www.greeleyhatworks.com/

The guy in Illinois is called Falcon Park Hattery. He's done good work for several FL posters.

Peter Bros. also does refurbing and repair of Fedoras as well. BTW, their website is down at present as they are redoing it. :)

I did not add them because the website is not there. I only wanted to add places I could verify. About 5 or 6 of the repair places mentioned in old threads seem to no longer exist. The list above are the ones I could verify.

They are STILL there. I was there last friday and picked up an older Worth-Walden of my father's that they refurbed for me. They are still in buisiness for sure :)

So, this is a thread for recommended places and you listed all the places you could find?
Take Mike the Hatter off the list, unless someone else has a different opinion of the place.

I listed the places talked about here on the Lounge. The thread I found the Mike listing had good things to say about him. I will take him off if the consensus is that he should not be on the list.

I agree. Hundreds spent on a peluche and I got a plastic hat instead... and they tried to blow smoke up my butt to cover it.
