Hat creases

  1. Am I correct that your 115mm/4.5" measurement is as creased? I ask because my Campdrafts measure closer to 5-1/4" to 5-1/2" (approximately 133mm to 140mm) open crown.

  2. I pulled those specs from Everything Australian's site. Seemed a bit low to me as well. I don't have my hat in hand to measure.

It could be , Red. I'm not sure. This one is 1950's but I am not sure when the model was first introduced.

I know what you mean. I had received a vintage Cavanagh about a year ago, and it looked weird sitting on my head.

I soon realized that the hat had been turned sometime in its life, and I was trying to wear it without the turn, as the crease was done this way. I recreased the top so that the front pinch was centered when the hat sat on my head the way it wanted to - with the turn, and I think it looks fantastic now. It has become one of my go-to's.

  14. Such wonderful character! If it were mine I'd probably ruin it by trying to give it a Diamond crease. :p

Thanks for the like. Yes snow. It will not stay long, but Minnesota has been known to have a random snow fall at times during the spring and even summer. Cold snow for a moment and back to the regularly scheduled weather patterns.

Thanks sir. Agreed, the clean look is refreshingly appealing.
