Back Friday afternoon from some business travel and I dropped my bags and headed outside to enjoy a Guinness. Ahhh.

Got into the Stranahan's Single Malt Whiskey last evening.

NBD! This Balcones Texas Single Malt has earned a spot on my bar. Even though the mouthfeel is normal, not thick, & it doesn't curtain the glass, it is rich tasting. The taste up front is predominantly an overripe pears & apples Southern fried fruit pastries taste from growing up. Some toasted toffee & oats taste, barley malt, & Oak wood from aging a min of 24 months. Non chill filtered & no color added. I get more toasted Oak wood, mild/different smoke than Peat, & cloves in the aftertaste. Maybe cinnamon; @ 106 proof I get a warming sensation but not a burning. I'm impressed; this stands out.

Got out a Woomera for big shade today as Plan B.

Continuing my German beer quest for HH today with an Ayinger Celebrator Bavarian Doppelbock.

Rich & filling @ 6.7% ABV is correct. I couldn't drink more than two in a setting.

Busy last couple days. I had my 40's Woody at the auto show this past weekend and sipped Guinness at the show.

Busy evening and Sunday with tasks about the home.

Surley Supreme and Guinness Stout were my consistent beer choices.

Early morning it was time for cold brewed coffee.

Before 8:00am I visited the neighbors after breakfast (Oatmeal and a Founders All Day IPA) to confirm that using my chainsaw would not be a problem. Good to go.

Post yard efforts I fixed fish stew. A small dram of Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve paired well today. I tried pipeting some water to see what changes in the whiskey I would appreciate. I found I preferred no water to this whiskey.

Celebrating a good report card on my annuals. Doctor said whatever you’re doing, just keep doing it. So I celebrated with a few early afternoon pints of Dunkel & my Resistol 3X felted edge.

Got a text that it was all you can eat pork spare ribs while they last. I definitely over ate & may have over hydrated. Same hat, different lighting.

I enjoying some low ABV beer during this past weeks walkabouts. Founders All Day IPA was my evening beers.

I needed a change of pace and yesterday took the opportunity to enjoy a small dram of Red Breast 12 whiskey. IMO, it is a tasty and well blended Irish whiskey. It is a whiskey to keep stocked on the shelf.

This mornings breakfast beer was a Surley Supreme. Goes well with oatmeal.

An American holiday weekend should be spent surrounded by truly American icons such as the Western Cowboy hat, American raised beef, & sipping American distilled whiskey.

After a day spent under a Ritch Rand Tom Horn & a meal including a KY bourbon marinated, home raised ribeye steak grilled over charcoal, it’s time for some Balcones Texas sipping Single Malt Whisky, while I resume watching the American classic, Lonesome Dove, started last night.
