A Surley Yummi Bear went well with today's version of Finnish Kalamojakka (fish stew or soup). The West Coast IPA was a tasty lunch treat.

Cod, salmon, fish stock, spinach, carrots, leak were the base of the soup. No potatoes or cream were in the house.

After cutting the lawn and blowing walkways and drive I imbibed a Surley pilsner.

Efforting to be socialable with the neighbors I poured a Founders Bottle Shop Mango Magnifico. I picked up a four pack at local liquior store for $8.99. I told the staff that it was most certainly was priced incorrectly. The young lady assured me it was correct as she checked the new beer stock earlier that day. I suggested a chcek and she got huffy. Ok - I picked up 2 4 packs.

"Mango Magnifico is a high-gravity fruit beer brewed with mango and a touch of habaneros to add just the right amount of heat. The delicate flavors imparted by the sweet richness of the mango are punctuated perfectly by the subtle heat of the habaneros, proving that fruit beers do not have to be one-note."

This beer has 10'ABV. The beer actually works. My purchase was out of curiosity. The habaneros add a spice (peppery heat). Interesting and a beer to sip when you have time to enjoy.

My wife and the neighbors drank some Mojitos and Lemonade Vodkas. They enjoyed their drinks. No one asked about my beer and I did not share. At the time I was not sure how to describe the curious flavors.

Cheers, Eric-

Good morning. Here is a collage of hats and drinks since midweek. Cold brewed Caribou Brazil cofee, Surley Pilsner, Guinness Extra Stout, Dangerous Man IPA and some MaCallan 12.

I will have to plan ahead to pick-up some tequila to participate in NTD next weekend.

Cheers to all, Eric -

Sherry or Oak series? And how do you like it?

Jack this is the Sherry oak series. I do like it paired with this meal as a glorious finish. I drank water with most of the meal and finished it off sipping the whiskey. I planned to have the whiskey accompany the meal, but it added a sweeter taste. It was better as a bookend to a great piece of beef.

Smooth, and sweet and it finishes hot, to my taste. Sherry up front and oak finish.

Back in the 2000 - 2005 time frame I used to drink a lot of Macallan 12 Sherry Cask series & really liked it but Macallan took a huge price increase blaming it on availability of Olorosa Sherry casks. At the same time they introduced their Oak series. Neither Balvenie nor Aberlour took an increase in their Sherry cask series so I switched to drinking them.
