No need, you can see the undercoat at the natural wear points at the wrists, it's grey, like a lot of chrome tanned leather is.

It's clearly covered in paint... It's not worth trying to fix, unless you just want to go all @ton312 on it and have fun.
Personally i don't think it's paint since it's well blended with the black and seems to be more in crevices. I suspect something like alcohol or bleach that discolored the top coat.

Also, regarding the pic, some leathers will do a red underlayer so they actually have 3.

I agree with cbez, the jacket’s color look too blended in together to be paint, which usually sit on top as circular spots in various sizes. It could be the case that paint was used then alcohol was used on top to spread the paint. Either way, just wear it like a $70 jacket.

Looks cool to me, better than a bland black leather jacket (especially if you already have black leather jackets). I'd enjoy wearing it if it fits and not worry about it.
On the other hand it does looks a bit similar to those awful Pakistani and Chinese fake patina "distressed" jackets that I see so much around on the internet.

So It's not paint, but it could be paint, ok, got it...
You do know paint can be used with aerosolor cans and spray ****s?
Not everyone uses brushes and cans doing nice round spots!

I don't understand what you guys are seeing...

To me it does look like someones used an air brush on it, as much as you can tell from photos. You can kind of see on some photos where it seems to have filled in along the seams of the grain. Unusual for sure.

why would a spray of paint be in the creases and not the flat surface? sounds more like a chemical was used that was more concentrated in the crevices.

Hello everyone, i just got this Schott 641 series for a great deal. Fits perfectly & already broken in. However, i have never owned a steerhide previously i have no idea how the patina looks on a steerhide jacket.

But the jacket currently has brown-reddish (terracotta) spots all over it eventhough the jacket is in black color.
Could this be discoloration (i.e. colorbleed) or just the natural patina?
That reddish brown is absolutely gorgeous though, great find.
