Hi Guys/Gals,

long time hat officianado, never joined a community before. I myself have a black leather full-brim(profile pic) for many many years and now a faily standard fedora again for the first time in ages BUT...

I dont know anything about a DIFFERENT HAT.
lining says: The Playboy -Stetson-
What I can read on the inside brim I'm 99.9% sure is "Canadian Polar" and the size shows as 7 1/4.
After looking around the site here I'm thinking 60's or 70's?

Every search I do for it doesnt show anything likle *this* hat... Anyone have any thoughts?
Clearly it needs to be cleaned and re-molded but it's an awesome hat otherwise and needs to go to the right person (who has a smaller hat size than my giant melon)... :(

Heh, yes I do jive talker. I actually watched that show as a kid.
Is there anything more you could tell me about the hat? What is the nap referred to as? Is there a market for it?
If I still had my purple veloure smoking jacket from the 80's I'd happily try to strech it out and make use of it myself.

The nap is basically called a long plush or peluche , as far as I know there isn't a market for them that is worth going into even though the brims have gone stingy. I'm not the best to answer that part . Some of our Ebayers can better answer. I just stick to what I do best.
Purple smoking jacket...uggg.. I remember the days...

*sigh*, I loved that jacket even though I wasnt allowed to ever wear it.

The brim seems firm, it's just been crushed at this point and needs TLC. I have a local lady who'll primp it back up if it's worth it at all

I had a Stetson Playboy from the late 70s / early 80s that had the same proportions as your fuzzy hat - but mine was just regular old black fur felt with a grosgrain ribbon. I've heard it referred to as a 'Playboy II', to differentiate from the original model. I think it would be worth getting back into shape, but only if you would wear it. Who knows if anyone would actually buy that hat...

Welcome to the Lounge! It's always good to have another aficionado join the ranks.

The hat that you ask about is not valuable. Unless it's something that you want for yourself, leave it be.

Fair enough. Thanks all. I doubt I'll be able to stretch it out for myself but I'll strive to find someone interested.

Thanks again happy hatted people!

Welcome to the Lounge.

You are correct, the second hat is a Whippet. The first hat…I have no idea. It certainly looks 60s+, usually a bit more modern than most hats on the forum.

Dan
