I am a new member here with a question. I've been looking at Open Roads and see one at Miller Hats with a rolled and bound brim. Can anyone tell me why this is called a Hemphill Hat or anything else about this model?

Thanks for this great resource! I especially like the Vintage Family Photos thread in The Display Case forum.

Hemphill is a small town in northeast Texas. The Hemphill's particular block and curled brim are somewhat reminiscent of the way that East Texas men wore their Open Roads long ago. Really, it's just Stetson trying to sell hats.

I just checked out the "Hemphill" and I've got to say, it's a great look. The combination of a pencil roll with the cattleman's crease produces a COWBOY HOMBURG. Nice!!! :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap
