I cut the slit on my lapel, when I first got this jacket, and I snagged the threads at the bottom and tore all the threads out. Every time I look at it it bothers the heck outta me so I'm justing wondering: is there any way to fix this?

Yeah, that took talent! Don't try to use a machine on it; that'll need to be resewn by hand. With a machined buttonhole, the slit isn't cut until afterward, but when they're done by hand the slit is cut first. That's why many times they're neater; the raw edges by definition are enclosed. If you try to use the machine now, you'll just shred that neat raw edge. But get a seamstress or tailor to stitch it by hand. The whole thing ought to be resewn, not just that side. Matching thread is almost impossible. Good luck!
