It’s a grey day

I recently sold two leather jackets and I have a few more on the chopping block so I decided to swing by Langlitz on Friday. Hanging in their used rack was a super cool grey jacket that had a new lining. I thought it looked great and it fit nicely, but I figured I’d wait a few days to see if the desire would wane. I ended up driving down there yesterday after work to check it out again and today after work I decided to buy it. I love my black langiltz with a mouton collar, but I generally wear brown shoes and it kinda clashes. It’s my main motorcycle jacket, but it also my main jacket. I’m feeling the grey will be a great bike jacket and one that works will brown shoes. I haven’t seen too many grey langlitz. The photo isn’t the best for lighting, but it is similar to WWII German grey leathers.

Nice pick up there! Loved visiting Langlitz in summer of 2023, however my wallet is extremely thankful that I do not live close. It would be hard to keep funds around for sure. :)

I've thought about this more now. When you visit the shop, Benny or John or Scott will show you, if you ask, about all kinds of colors of leather that they carry or can order, both Goat and Cow. However other than the occasional brown, you rarely see a different color Langlitz in the wild. Then I look at my own and it's all black. So I guess it's not pushed too much on customers. I believe there is a blue one floating around FL somewhere.

Reminds me of some of the grey leathers issued by the West German Luftwaffe (not the WW2 era organisation - "Luftwaffe" just translates as 'Air Force'!) in the 70s/80s. Maybe a bit darker. You don't see grey often in leather these days - that one has a nice hue that is just warm enough to work well with the brown shoes imo. Langlitz make excellent stuff - if ever my lotto numbers come up they'd definitely be on my list for something custom made. Enjoy!

They have a stunning green one from the 60’s hanging from the rafters. I think most of their colors are too bright. The new grey ones are too bright for my tastes. This one is from 89, so it is nice honest patina, or what Grant Peterson from Rivendell Bicycle Conpany would call beausage, beauty through usage.
