If you haven't caught it yet, PBS' Mystery has just begun running a new British series, Jericho, that's loaded with Fedoras and great period clothing and atmosphere. The series is set just after WWII in London and stars Robert Lindsey (My Family, Bert Rigby-You're a Fool) as a Scotland Yard detective. I'm told the series has loads of great guest stars - tonight's the second episode & I just spotted Peter Bowles (To the Manor Born, Irish R.M.)

"Jericho" is turning out to be one of the best Mystery series in a long while. The attention to decor and fashion detail is excellent, and even though it's set in the late '50s, it kind of transcends any one decade.

I recognized Francesca Annis (notably of the original Dune) in the first episodes. I wonder if this thing is/was a hit across the pond?

It's like Hammett/Chandler were transfered to Britain. Great stuff!

Yep, the first episode of the second series aired last night here in Seattle as well...although for the life of me, I have never been able to figure out how our local station can get tapes or DVD's of new series (however they're distributed to PBS stations these days) that end up, on broadcast, looking like old kinetiscopes or like they've been through every X-ray machine here and New York. The quality is horrible, although their pledgebreaks come through sharp and clear as a bell.
