Funny you mention that. Yesterday I was thinking this year I didn't layer much if at all with my vest I used almost all season. Great idea, I dont know why I got away from it this year.

  2. Exactly Guppy. I wear a quilted vest under many of my jackets for the coldest days. Keeps me warm.

I have thought about getting a C3 shearling vest for a while to wear underneath a leather jacket.
Problem is it never gets cold enough for me to need it...

In CO, I had a battery powered heated vest. Incredibly warm for brutally cold days on the bike. Totally recommend.

Todays offering , 1970's Excelled Café racer ( ex-TFL thankyou !) in Brown steer. In BEAUTIFUL condition.
Over at the Indian Ocean at our favourite biker friendly 1960's Greek café, "Peters by the sea"
(Photo already used in other threads sorry !). Boots are Lucchese Crocodile in 11D
"As hard as a Whore's heart" which makes for good biker boots.

The jacket that started it all for me in 1990. My original bought new Eastman Luftwaffe.
Over at Scarboro' beach in Perth Western Australia. Jacket had been redyed by me as it was almost brown.
Not the best shot , taken on a mate's iPhone and emailed to me.
Using "social distancing" he would not use my phone ! ( NOT KIDDING !)

Do you still have those Ar3? How do you compare the fit and size with your vanson chopper? Hows the sleeve lengths compare to your chopper?

    great fit jacket

These two in the pics? They’re the “V7” only available from UnionGarageNYC, their collaboration with Vanson. I still have both, fantastic moto jackets. Their dimensions are similar to my Chopper, including the sleeve lengths, but the two designs are very different and the wearing-experience is different too, atleast for now as my Chopper is still some ways off from being fully broken in. With its heavy comp weight leather, all those extra liner material on the stitched shoulder, elbow and back areas, plus the double thick kidney pad and side buckles, the Chopper is a burly “take no prisoners” heavy weight jacket. Whereas the V7 are much easier to wear. Even with the armor pads they’re a bit lighter than the Chopper. Fit is roomier without being baggy, so things tend to be more comfortable. I love them, but I’m not giving up on my Chopper yet. It’s too bad-ass of a jacket to neglect, but it does require some commitment to get the most out of it. Hope I made sense.

Thanks. These are really helpful. May I ask your chopper and V7's size?

The Chopper is 6-odd years old now, size Medium, although it seems they’ve gone to numbered sizing now. The V7 are a size 42. In the AR3 that I returned I was also a 42, while I’m
    Pretty sure I’m a size 40 in the Model-B.

My experience is that AR2 / AR3 fit about the same as V7 and that the Chopper is slightly more generous.

    I am a 42 in AR2/AR3, my V7 is a 44 (and I could wear a 42), and my 42 Chopper was nearly as large as my 44 V7.

Walden Miller at Jindalee 3.jpg COVID-19 Harley ride north today. Only 2 of us as that's the limit y'see !
Only 8C here when we set off , 20C on the return leg.
The 2008 Harley FXSTSSE2 CVO Springer is just off camera !
Jacket is my only "cross zip" a steerhide Australian made Walden Miller from South Australia.
It was a "promo" jacket from the Australian cinema launch of the movie..
This firm for years made all the Coppers ( Police !) leather jackets in Australia , they get (got ?) a very good name.
"Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" With Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro.
Grainy photos today sorry about that ! Also used in other threads.

True. I find my V7 and the various Model A versions to be the same size - 42 for me. Can’t confirm current sizing for the Chopper as mine is based on older sizing format - S, M, L etc

From today's COVID-19 "restricted gathering" Saturday morning Harley ride. Cool start at 12C ( by our standards !)
Jacket is my Perth Western Australia ( By Sinnika leather here in Perth) Eastman Luftwaffe goat hide exact "copy".
Jacket now some 20+ years old and has had some "adventures" over the years.
IDENTICAL to my original 1990 Eastman Luftwaffe I bought new , but lighter goat hide and lining, YKK zippers.
This does not get worn often now , considers itself "semi-retired" , a bit like myself. Too many others y'see !

Now that there looks like Deputy Coogan's "requisitioned" Triumph in the chase thru central park in the 1968 movie "Coogan's Bluff" if my memory serves me well. Eastwood was in a Western styled SUIT and pointy toed Cowboy boots !
What is that crosszip in the (wintry looking) photo ?

Not a "motorcycle jacket" per se , but I was out on my motorcycle !
This shot from today's Good Friday Harley ride to the current COVID-19 "outer limit of travel"
Jacket a yellow Levi trucker , ebay purchase from the UK last year. Unlined and "cool".
27C when we got underway at 9am , 33C on the way home . (37 forecast for tomorrow !)
The rest of Australia has 20's and rain today. This jacket was PERFECT for today's temperatures.
Photo taken at the Yanchep lagoon , a good snorkelling spot. Lifeguards on duty below the shot.
