Riding season is nearly here in Scotland and I'm sorting out my jackets, textiles and leather. Here's some of my favourites.

my vanson derby has seen the most adventures, it's currently with vanson for zipper replacement and a sleeve shortening

details aren't very visible, but my other jacket is a beck nor'easter repro by schott. love the horsehide on this even though it feels alot lighter than the competition weight cowhide of the vanson

Nice! A great clue to identify makers. Appalachian stands out. I will make an effort to picture some California Sportswear jackets and others.

Yes, the Appalachian flight jacket-type epaulette is my favorite. Can also find it on the Sportclad/Kurland and my early Cal.

Absolutely, if it's too warm for leather jacket with sleeves then it's too warm for any leather even if it's a vest.

Only wear the leather when I ride. I do have some lighter vests and jackets for work. For both riding and work, my gear is truly functional. For work, pretty much required too.

70 degrees this morning, the Shott 641 is the only light jacket I have.
It was fine while moving.

Today I wore my latest riding jacket for the first time. It's a Knox Urbane Pro, which is an armoured, abrasion resistant base layer designed to be worn under whatever jacket you fancy, or even as a super airy jacket in its own right.

I wore it under my Johnson Motors Roustabout dry wax jacket today and it was a perfect combo. Except for all the hot-weather bugs plastered all up me by the end.

Got this Schott Perfecto on it’s way, but trying to figure out what model it is. No epaulets, no coin pocket and no upper left side pocket. Anybody have any ideas?

Just a guess, but perhaps a 622 with the epaulets removed? The 622 was offered for one year in 1993.

Hey Thanks! Nope, the sleeves are perfect. With a motorcycle jacket, sleeves should not interfere with wearing a pair of riding gloves. If you find yourself tucking your gloves under the sleeves or pulling the sleeves over your gloves, fussing with that area in any way— then most likely the jacket sleeves are too long.

I thought that as well, but no breast zip pocket and no epaulet snaps or cut marks.
