I bought a Lock & Co Sandown Trilby 11 years ago and have worn it almost daily. I've hiked many times in the Pouring Seattle rain. Been Skiing in heavy Snow. Even got caught in a sand storm in Qatar.

Everytime, just let it dry, steamed and brushed it the next day. Always looked like new. This hat was like ******proof!

About 10 years of this and all of a sudden a 1/2 dozen tiny holes showed up on the pinch. I don't know why, other than extreme abuse and my too much steaming and creasing, lol.

It also got this little grease spots like acne all over the pinch and top of crown.
I had posted some 'before pics' of my 11 year old Sandown trilby to the Fedora Lounge asking if anyone thought it was repairable on your Questions forum, and I sent some photos to Lock & Co asking if anything could be done. Lock immediately got back to me and said send it. They would do whatever was possible at no charge!!
So I posted this on your Questions forum and a few friends ask me to post what happens.

SO HERE GOES

I sent it to Lock & Co and got it back yesterday. They sealed the holes, and reinforced from the inside any furfelt that had gotten thin. They cleaned it, reblocked it and sewed in a new satin liner. It didn't come with a liner but they thought it would look better. All repairs took less than 2 weeks and we're completely complimentary.

Right now I can't do anything but rave about Lock & Co. The quality of their hats and the unbelievable quality of their service. I'm including a few "Before and After" pics. You be the judge.

If you look really close at where the holes were sealed you can see where they were. But in my opinion they did an unbelievable job.

They really do stand behind their hats for life.

Locks are well known for an after sales service without compare. A friend some years ago nought a used Locks bowler on ebay. He happened to be passing one day and went in to ask them if they could maybe determine when it was made. Not only did they do that, but - knowing it was a second hand purchase - they also gave it a full freshen-up and conformed it to his head, on the spot. Much like gonig to a cutter on the Row, this sort of service is a big chunk of the added value you get when you buy in at that level. For now they're a touch beyond my pocket, but if that ever changes I'd love one day to pick up a bowler from them - as the place in which they were invented, of course. Even if I can never stretch to them, the fact that they are still in business is a great thing.
