Major T. J. Kong's hat?

Does anyone know what brand and style of hat Maj. Kong is wearing in Dr. Strangelove?
First guess would be a straw Stetson of some type, but I don't like guessing.

Looks like a typical straw cowboy hat, in a common crease for the time. I don't think it is possible to guess what brand it is just by looking at it. Stetson is a good guess, but it could be a Resistol or others, too.
