Medium Length vintage hair styles

I can't achieve a Victory roll my hair is too "short" for one but my hair is about medium length.. what can i do for a hair style?

Mhm, When I had medium length hair (shorter than yours in your picture) I managed to make vicory rolls with it- may I ask what makes you assume it doesn't work with yours? Or is your hair shorter now?

Its totally un even with layers short layers in the front and going long in the back.

I had the same problem for the longest time. I think, when doing victory rolls, it is best to try back combing so more of the layers 'clump' together. If I got too fustrated with that I also did roller sets, or used combs to pin a section of front hair to the side.

When my hair was more layered, I sometimes wet the strand of hair with water as it stopped the flyaway bits and then did the victory roll. I put hairspray on it and just let it dry.

This sounds like a great tip! Why didn't I think of it?

I have layers and I can do victory rolls, but sometimes it's a real faff to stop bits escaping before I've got to them in the roll.

My hair is layered, shorter than yours in the pic, and I can do victory rolls just fine. Wet set your hair in pincurls and it won't slide all over the place and it will stay in chunks better.

There are lots of other great vintage styles you can do with medium-length hair as well. This was the most common length in the 40s and there are all sorts of updos, partial updos and styles worn down that you can do! You should pick up some vintage hairstyling books to get an idea of the many options you have!

I'll second the recommendation for back-combing -- my hair in its natural state is very straight and fine, and it needs a little extra coaxing to stay in roll form. Hair texture is key to making rolls -- if your hair is naturally coarse it'll hold together much better than if it's fine.

Good Advice Lizzymaine, I just watch GoGoAmy and Betina's how to be a PIn UP MOdel vid and the backcombed the heck out our their victory rolls. I have yet to get a decent one seems like mine get so big on the sides I end up giving up put perhaps the backcombing will help out too.

Hair hopes

Ladies- Is it possible once I grow my hair to the proper length for me to get it permed that way? (It is very short right now)
I have always wanted Ingrid Bergman hair but I am not a high maitenence woman. Everyday victory rolls seem like a lot of work as I am uncordinated and hopeless with my hair.
I suppose I could learn...
