Hi guys, I'm looking for heavy wool/merino pullovers to wear underneath a leather jacket but practical enough for hunting. Classic colours (black, navy, grey, green, brown) and no motiv. I use to call them "Scottish fishermen's pullovers". They should be made in Scotland, England or Germany. I used to wear and love Fjällräven Singi or Sörmland pullovers but they are hard to get right now and too expensive given that they are made from Swedish wool but assembled in China. Barbour used to have some nice made in Scotland pullovers but they don't seem to produce them anymore. Are there any brands you could recommend? My budget is max. 250€ per pullover. This William Lockie pullover is pretty much what I'm looking for despite having a turtle neck. Thanks in advance, I'm looking forward to your advice!
I bought the light grey roll neck here last Christmas, they're an actual ships chandlers, the sweater is very warm. https://arthurbeale.co.uk/collections/beerenberg-pullovers Or there's this https://northseaclothing.com/collections/wool-knitwear These aren't bad either, I was looking at the Sloppy Joe but they're sold out in larger sizes. https://www.blacksheepknitwear.com/collections/sweaters-for-men-and-women Or there's Sou'west chunkies, their website seems to be down but Peter's email is peter@souwestchunkies.com . Here's a thread about them, Peter's a nice bloke to deal with. https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/souwest-chunkies-sweaters.92069/
Try yarmo.co.uk who again are ships chandlers and have an irish made rollneck at the incredible price of £45. D
I picked up a Donegal rolled crew neck pullover by Fisherman Out of Ireland at a shop called Cleo's in Dublin last autumn. Made from Merino wool, very comfortable to the skin & exceptionally warm. Good price for the quality.
Maybe one of these https://www.rymhart-troyer.de/rymha...mhart-troyer-leicht.html#/19-farbe-marineblau Collar is thick way long enough to make a wind proof and warm turtleneck. Got a standard wool Troyer and Cardigan and would say these are top notch. They got a shop in Stade too. Cheers Turnip
^ now those are nice! USD$230 is a bit steep for me at this Covid-19 moment, but I've bookmarked for a future purchase (in Graphite)
Thanks for your great tips guys! I ended up ordering the blue William Lockie pullover on the picture I posted above and a dark grey Sloppy Joe pullover from Black Sheep.
