New Buzz Rickson's Items in Stock Part 2

These new jacket styles arrived right in the heart of the Christmas madness in December and never got photographed and uploaded until this week. Each item is special in its own right, upholding the high manufacturing traditions associated with Buzz Rickson's. If someone asks me which is the most special, I would likely say the L-2A Test Sample is, simply because it's a limited edition and there will be no more when these are sold out, as well as because the worseted-wool gabardine fabric it's crafted from is so spookily close to vintage (the hand is so good that a blindfold test will fail in detecting this) and the fit is so crisp. And I invite you to take note of the zipper tape on the L-2A Test Sample in Olive Drab - a nice touch that reflects the small-batch production of the vintage garments and the use of components as available - a detail not overlooked by Buzz Rickson's. The vintage Test Samples are supremely rare, and they almost always were assigned for testing to aircrew of colonel rank and above. But, in objective view, the gabardine fabric is no more accurate than any of the others employed in making the following jackets. Choosing a fave is a bit like asking who is your favorite child.

The USN 1943 Hook-Front jackets are also quite special. This year, they are offered without the "U. S. NAVY" printing on the backs for those preferring a plain jacket. The super-durable corded-cotton exteriors are also crafted from the same heavyweight fabric employed on the heavyweight N-1 jackets, which has not been offered on this style in the past. The actual hook fasteners are also new this year, being copied from a different style that was employed in producing a specific contract of vintage jackets: the female side has a full flange that is riveted to the wind flap vs. having only an oval-shaped grommet for this purpose. Lastly, we offer a fantasy take on this style by also having a "khaki" shade available. Though blue is all that was made in WWII and clearly part of what makes this style a classic, we're very keen in offering the "khaki" color in this style, which I think looks quite good, especially when contrasted next to the hook fasteners painted in O. D.

In no way least is the M-51 Parka; it's last by virtue of something coming first. What can I say: It's the Korean War. It's the 1970's. It's London and New York. It's Mike the "Meathead" Stivic arguing with Archie in "All in the Family" and "Hawkeye" Pierce joking through surgery on "M*A*S*H." It's my childhood. I always wondered what jackets these were, then I learned years later. Peace, baby!

Please enjoy, and if you have questions, I'm here to help. Thank you for looking!
