Thank you for posting this case study.
This brings some newbie questions:
• I saw 10 vueltas (ring like structures) with this hat on the close-up photo. Did I count that right? What is the WPSI? Do you think the small black spots are mildew?
• We could re-direct some e-bay sellers to the FL thread: Photographing your hat – how to do it well? Is there an intention behind ****py (un-sharp)photos, what do you think?
• Vintage Panama collectors of the FL pls. confess: what are your general remarks with such vintage hats? How do they compare to recent 'fresh' Montecristi? Are they wearable? Can they be cleaned? Old creases ironed? Can they be re-blocked to a larger/smaller size? Can a good hatmaker repair the damages (like the mildew) / renovate them
• I am asking since those hats are regularly appearing on e-bay and they all go for fractions of prices that is normal with recent Montecristi.
• There is one avatar here “Stop buying hats at e-bay”, is this valid for vintage too?

And finally in the light of the 25-30k vintage Montecristi prices - how is it possible that sellers offer vintage Panamas for some dozens of dollars?
