Starting a thread on Pioneer Wear for discussion. I keep reading great things about their suede products, and of course, their Western style is a “pioneer” in their field.

Pioneer Wear (1939-99) specializes in Western clothing; their shop was located at 1718 Yale Boulevard, Northeast, Albuquerque, New Mexico. Pioneer Wear was started by Leopold Seligman in 1939, at 701 Copper NW. After Leopold Seligman died in 1946, his wife, Hanni Seligman, ran it with her two sons, John Sullivan and Rudy. Rudy passed away in 1961 and John bought his shares of the company. After Mrs. Seligman passed in 1974, John bought her ownership as well and became president of the company. Owner Don Tampow closed Pioneer Wear in 1999; one year later, he donated his entire inventory of 16,000 garments to the victims of the Cerro Grande Fire (2000) in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

I have no clue which label came first, I know my jacket is likely early 70's based on the date of that original care pamphlet that was in the pocket, but don't know if my vest is older or later.
It's label is definitely very 70's looking.

Among my Pioneer Wear pcs I have a 1970’s Western cut 2-button leather sport coat. I enjoy wearing it over a solid color mock turtle or crewneck, Henley or other banded collar shirt, casually with blue jeans.

I have similar 1970’s Pioneer Wear Western cut sport coats in corduroy with leather yoke & pocket flaps, in black, brown, & gray with black trim. I wear them in much the same manner for a casual look. The corduroy Western sport coats are still very common to find.
