Plastic Storage Containers

Has anyone had problems storing fedoras in clear plastic containers?
I have to wonder if that's a good idea. I like the protection from moths, dust and moisture, but I wonder if the felt needs to "breath" as leather does? Maybe if there's enough air space in the container? Or maybe it's no issue at all?

I've never had this problem, but I have heard that storing cloth (or clothes) in a plastic container can lead to the fabric dry rotting. Moisture cannot escape, etc. My mother had a friend who lost 6 large plastic containers of fabric to dry rot this way.

I do pack away all my winter clothes and cheap hats in plastic during the summer months with mothballs, but I make sure that they are dry and clean. I haven't had any problems. I have heard that the best way to pack valuable clothes away is in fabric or at least acid-free tissue, but I am not sure how that would work for hats. (They recommend that brides store their wedding dresses in fabric, for instance).
