Here is another that didn't fit. One that fits will come along.
Lake -O- Woods police jacket-
That Windward is a Beauty! Looks like new. For all my efforts to identify makers with the Sears jackets I have not done as much with the Penney and Wards jackets. There were only so many makers and both Penney and Wards had huge followings.
Here are photos of my early 50s Grais. The leather of this D-pocket is bulletproof thick.
Love the lightplay on that rich black color. I wear it for cold weather riding on my Indians.
This jacket has a Grais label? Looks identical to the Harley Cycle champ.
No label at all. It is relined. But there is the D-pocket on the left side. No additional pocket as on the HD. Buco style.
Grais produced a very similar jacket in the 50s (not my jackets):
It doesn't look like it has a second handwarmer pocket like the HD CC.
Yes, I think it´s that model Grais.
Thanks, that sure is the jacket. I had never seen one like this by Grais. So much like the HD Cycle Champ makes me think they made those jackets for HD, some one did. That Not Pocket D pocket stands out. The spots too, though different sizes in the same places.
This one is particularly nice looking. Hard jacket to not notice.
Ive been hunting for a jacket with the no-pocket D pocket for years. Can never find one in my size or the asking price is too much for me. Definitely a style that is hard to miss and harder to not appreciate.
I was thinking of you. Have you ever seen a Grais like this? Pretty darn cool!
I’ve seen a few online. When for sale they normally are way too small for me. And they always look like they have serious taper. So even if I thought I could force fit into a smaller P2P, the bottom hem measurement quashes the idea. When I think Grais, I think of this jacket. Very cool.
Ok, you have seen this in the Wild. I know the too small story. I just got this Sportclad. Another one just showed up on ebay! I think it is the same size as this one.
I think my Sportclad is the only one I’ve seen with a 24” P2P. Usually just a tad small for me too. It also has the blackened brass hardware and the button throat latch. I love these jackets. If I find one in the condition of your first one I would probably buy another one.
I'm going to do a post on the two I have. These Star Sportswear/Kuland jackets have a special place here on the Lounge
