I'm a collector of radio broadcasts (and acetates), studio outtakes, mixing desk/soundboard feeds, and generally any Era music (mostly jazz) that is either rare and only circulated amongst collectors, or hasn't even been released (and if it has then only unofficially by bootleg companies). I thought I'd start compiling a list of pre-1965 recordings here.
Needless to say, the further one goes back in time the harder it is to find recordings, especially before 1950.

The details of some aren't clear and it would be great if anyone out there with any information could fill in the missing jigsaw pieces:

(note: these are all digital lossless (ie, uncompressed for preservation purposes). In many cases, for example the acetates and radio station disks, there are only single copies in existence)

The Goodman 1937 remotes were recorded originally by Bill Savory, a CBS technician and jazz enthusiast who recorded hundreds of band remotes for his own purposes between the mid-thirties and early forties -- a few years ago the National Jazz Museum acquired the bulk of the Savory collection and is in the process of having the discs preserved. The Madhattan Room broadcasts were released in the early 70s on a series of LPs put out on the Sunbeam label, and these LPs are the source material for all the different versions that have circulated since, including a boxed set of CDs on the Viper's Nest label, a bootleg operation that eventually got busted for failure to pay mechanical royalties.
