I want some durable M43 boots like what Steve McQueen wears in the Great Escape. What brands should I look out for? I know nothing about boots lol.

If money isnt a problem, id 100% go for a pair of John Lofgren. I dont have a pair, but I do have a pair of JL Engineer boots which im super happy with. They do take some decent time to get however, but one who waits for something good never waits too long hah. Here's a link: https://johnlofgren.com/products/lk-017-black

Look to YouTube channel Rose Anvil for exhaustive reviews of boot/shoe construction. None better.

Aside from correct fit, which can certainly differ from fit suggested from commercial Brannock device, User needs to understand how his/her feet differ from dimensions suggested by Brannock device. In my experience, at least one size in length is suggested, perhaps more.

Winter boots, with thicker sox may require longer length, and possibly wider footwear.

In my personal experience, there is "Dress" footwear, likely seldom worn, Everyday footwear, properly maintained, and nearly worn-out "Everday" footwear.

Re-enacting footwear being a separate issue.

Damn those are some nice boots… maybe someday, if my career takes off… lol. I should specify, I want the M43 in rough out suede… I love boots, suede jackets are cool, but suede looks best on boots.

yeah, actually I’ve been wearing these Indiana Jones style boots from Wested leather company, they are much much cheaper than those M43s by JL, and honestly, they scratched my leather boot itch for the moment

How are they holding up? Ive been on their site a couple of times but it gives me slight ****my vibes. Prices just a bit too good to be true, made in the UK etc.

Really good. I’ve only had them for a short while, though. They look fantastic, the quality feels excellent, they match perfectly with my Real McCoys A2. I recommend, save the money and go Wested. I imagine they are so cheap because people don't want to cosplay as Indiana Jones, I don't either but no one can tell they are Indiana Jones boots anyway unless they look inside the boots lol.
