Resizing Question

I have a Royal Stetson, not sure of the model & it's about 2 sizes too big, I put one of those terry cloth resizer thingies on the back of the leather sweatband then I drenched the whole hat in a cold shower & let it dry with a center dent now it's a perfect fit. If I get it resized to to fit my pinhead noggin will I end up with a wider brim hat?

I'm looking to buy my first wide brim ... thinking maybe an old Stetson cowboy hat that I've been eying on eBay that I can rebash... is there anything else I should look at? need as much help with this one that you guys & gals can offer up.

Point of fact is that I never put on a cowboy hat so I really don't know if I can pull it off, or even if it would look good on me. [huh]

Look at vintage Resistol westerns too. You can get same quality felt to work with usually at a lower price than a comparable Stetson. The name does drive more bidders to the Stetson ones...

Thanks I'll keep that in mind .. I just lost out on a NOS Stetson Stampede in chocolate [huh]

anyway after dinner I took some pictures of the Stetson that I have:

Since it fits well on me with the terry cloth resizer .. I'm seriously thinking that I should just leave it alone for now .. because it will probably cost me about 100 smackers to get it reblocked & resized plus all of the components are going to have to replaced .. cheaper just to get something off eBay.... right?
