Quick question: when did they stop wearing spats (those skirt things over their shoes), and when were they considered 'in style'? They seem to have disappeared early on in the century, but I'm not too sure.

Gone from the streets by the late 1930s, except for wear with morning coats. By the 1950s, they were pretty much gone for good.
