Does anyone here know if "spiffy collar stays" are still made? For those who may never heard of them, they were a piece of lightweight metal wire formed into basically an M. The long ends of the M had a spring portion as well and the tips had a pointy end. After tying your necktie, you positioned this contraption under the knot and inserted the ends into the points of your collar. They worked great! My dad used them all of the time. Anyway, if you know of anywhere to find them, please let me know. Thank you! ~ Tim

To answer your query; you might check a military/uniform supply store.

How is this functionally different/better than individual collar stays available today?

    These are spiffy.

Seriously, though, they look as if they fit all shirt, not just those with slots for collar stays.
