I'm not a big Star Wars Fan myself... Jar Jar Binks ended that for me absolutely and completely. I'm a Trekker I suppose at heart. Still, here's some news for you die hard members of the "Rebel Alliance".

All your Episode IV cast members will be back... with their kids I suppose. Let's hope Disney can do a better job with the franchise than Lucas has. Saddest thing was all the "Princess Leia ate Jabba" cracks that the commentors were making at the bottom. Some people gain weight as they age... father time is not kind, do they have to beat her to death over it? Is her entire career to be reduced to a cascade of "fat jokes"? Sad...

Yawn. It's been relentlously downhill ever since Empire.

It's very unlikely that I'll see this theatrically - my kids are now adults... and even they didn't like the prequel trilogy when they were!

Plus, I hated JJ's Trek films, so I have zero desire to see him screw up another beloved sci-fantasy franchise...

I agree with Doc Strange and Ferraud, the series started downhill with Return of the Jedi. Aside from a few moments and scenes, the three most recent films were junk. As for Abrams, he's not the genius he's made out to be (same with Rami for that matter).

And for the record: Hans Olo shot first... in both Star Wars films!

Can't imagine I'll bother with it either. I've still not even seen Episode III. I & II were bad enough. I only saw II because a friend of the girl I was seeing at the time wanted to go for her birthday party, and it seemed rude to decline.

I wish I'd been rude.

The real problem is that Star Wars is different things to different people. "It should be about the Skywalker family!" "It should be about the Jedi!" "It should be about the Sith!" "It should be about Boba Fett!" "It should be about the Ice Cream Maker guy!" "It should be about that obscure extra in the background in the bar scene in Attack of the Clones!" No matter what Abrams does, someone is going to be displeased.

This is a popular misconception. Han Solo didn't shoot first...he shot period. :D

Wow, Max von Sydow is still alive???? :p
The Force is strong with him.

I'm one of those rare (it seems) individuals who was blessed enough to retain a sense of childlike wonderment into adulthood when it comes to viewing myth, magic and space battles as conceived of in the mind of Mr Lucas and his collaborators. Bring on the futuristic cities that cover whole planets, the laser swords, ray guns, spaceships, strange aliens etc. I still love them as much as ever and I'll be there in my favourite spot right int the middle of the cinema to enjoy it all.

Well, I'm stoked, now. My niece just informed me I'm going with her and her kids to see this on 12/18. So I get to re-experience this in the theater with a pre-adolescent. When I saw the first movie, I was 17.

Can't wait.
