Edward, there's definitely something inside the Elvis cap making those peaks, not just the stitching of the cloth itself.

I can't tell what they're made of because they're inside the lining. No doubt they used something akin to cardboard in their caps in the past. Now it's probably some kind of plastic, like I suspect the interior circular stiffener behind the sweatband that's the architectural underpinning of these caps is.

Actually, those police cap-like peaks are one of the things I wasn't crazy about once I was actually wearing the Elvis cap. I went for the Fiddler model this time because I think the plain circular "crown" is more my style.

And yeah, the gray goes well with my peacoat, and I've got a bunch of other winter jackets it matches... My black Gibson & Barnes Civil A-2, my black Taylor's police jacket, a charcoal gray London Fog topcoat, an old black LL Bean Warmup jacket, and an indestructible navy MA-1-style jacket that Bean made back in the mid-90s...

Thanks, that's helpful to know! Both look great. I imagine they're plenty warm this time of year, too - I've only been to Poland in July, but I know it gets very chilly over there come this time of year!

The Elvis cap is really more of a summer or three-season wearer. It's lined, but it's only made of cotton and includes four vent grommets. I already put it away for winter.

In contrast, the Fiddler is unvented wool. Its warmth seems comparable to the two B!Wear wool newsboy caps I've worn for the last two decades when it's been too windy for a brimmed hat...
