I gotta tell you, as soon as I pulled this hat from its box, I knex I had something special. I don't know how well the color is showing, but it's an olive-tan. Sold as unworn, I can find little evidence it's been out of its box.
It's got a 2 3/4" brim, 5 1/4" bashed crown (5 3/4" open), with extremely soft and malleable felt. The edge is a stitched underwelt. I've done nothing to it other than a brushing. It took no steam at all to shape it. The liner and sweat are like new.
My only small concern is where the wind trolley button is wrapped to the bow. It's tight and the cord rides halfway up the ribbon on the bow side, looking slightly wrong. I going to try and reposition it at the bottom of the bow, but it'll leave a crease at the mid-bow where it's been for the last 50 or so years. Maybe I can get it to smooth out with some stream.
I weighed the hat to see how it compared with some others. It came in at 111 grams, versus 144 grams for my Knox 100, 133 grams for the Knox 20 and 93 grams for my thin Borsalino Alessandria.
