Nice hat! Would a fashionably astute person wear a hat with a tux? If so, what style? A homburg?

To date, I've always worn a black fedora with black tie. I'm given to understand that a homburg is more "correct" (I recall I read that on the FL when I asked about overcoats to go with black and white tie). IMO, a homburg without side dents has a more "formal" air to it (almost reminiscent to me of a top hat, but with a more relaxed top) which lends itself nicely to black tie.
