There is another hatter in Oregon. John Fish is a hatter and leather craftsmen in Portland, Oregon. His website doesn't have any information at this time but his Instagram is very interesting and he has some nice looking hats. Some hats are distressed. I have not ordered a hat from him so I can't speak to the hats or prices but thought it would be a good idea to put this out there. Website: http://www.thisisfolklore.com/ (empty at this time) Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thisisfolklore/ He has registered on this forum (@THIS IS FOLKLORE ) Hoping that maybe he will see this and reply or maybe someone here has more information about his hats. His hat boxes are unique (assuming that this is not a one off): https://www.instagram.com/p/BA-DdXlyRII/?taken-by=thisisfolklore By the looks of things he might have a brick and mortar store front.
Thanks for posting, I did like reading about his story and journey into hatting. While my finances are tied up with other projects for the time being. I think I do need to reach out to him about a leather wallet that he makes. Looks fantastic: https://www.instagram.com/p/BFXdXO7SROR/?taken-by=thisisfolklore This heavily distressed fedora has a 7 inch crown: https://www.instagram.com/p/BM9sti5gnhX/?taken-by=thisisfolklore
I bought a super leather wallet from John. Hell of a nice guy, and very easy to work with. The wallet, and his leather working skills, are top notch.
Hey Fellas, This is my first post on the fedora lounge. @ChicagoWayVito Thank you very much for the kind introduction. I really appreciate the interest in my work @1mach1 / Harv, Thank you as well, glad to hear you are enjoying the wallet. To start out, I have been making hats for about 2 years now and have dedicated most all of my energy into teaching myself the craft. I have used these first few years to really try to fully learn and understand the process and I am now ready to start to promote my business within a wider audience. Although I still have a lot to learn, I am confident in the quality of the hats that I make and stand behind my products 100% That being said, I am hoping to have a new website with more information as well as an online store open within the beginning of this next year. Until then if anyone should have any questions concerning my process, my products, or how to order please feel free to give me a call or shoot me an email. I look forward to meeting many more of you in the near future. - John Fish THE FOLKLORE HAT COMPANY 906.281.6961 johnfish@thisisfolklore.com 2926 NE Killingsworth St. Portland, Ore. 97211
Hi John, Welcome. I'm glad to learn you're in my area. I'll stop by sometime and say hello. Best wishes, MK
Welcome! There’s always room for another custom hatter. There must be something in the water in the Pacific Northwest; you can’t throw a stone without hitting a top tier hatter. We’d all love to see your work and photos speak like louder than words. Hope to see you around the Lounge often. Brent Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This was an older post, have we seen any of John's work elsewhere on the lounge? I will have to stop in there next week when I'm up in the area. I hope he is still in the same location.
Mike, I didn’t look at the date before posting. My mistake. It would be nice to see more of his work and read some reviews from other members. His hats should be very nice as he is charging best quality prices. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hello Fellas, Thank you for kindly welcoming me to the lounge. I appoligize for the lack of communication here, I don’t make it onto the forum that often. Here are a few examples of some of my current work. Thank you for your interest.
