Good day,
a Montecristi's of mine need to be renovated.
I could send it to Art, but...shipping cost and return (from Italy) will cost more than the Art's art.
In second, I would like to do it myself, thanks to what I have learn here on the lounge.
It need to change the sweatband (it has not a great sweat band) I have a PB montecrististi blocked by Art and the sweatband is really magnific!!!
It need to be cleaned, the stitch has decolored and the straw, in some zone, are become brown!!
Could you advice me to try it myself?
I could buy sweatband and hatband from Art, and then I could try to replace them.
What do you think about, and you, Art?

Best regards.
Riccardo

3 questions.

Dear Riccardo,

0 answers to a question in a thread since 10 days – I could not simply see that. I can only ask 3 questions.

1. Would you like to begin really on a Montecristi?
2. Wouldn't be a cheaper straw more appropriate?
3. You can buy the sweatband and the ribbon-but the talent and experience of Art Fawcett?

Regards:

Tom

I've re-sweatbanded a few hats, and frankly, it's takes a LOT of practice to get it just right -- but there is a terrific tutorial posted somewhere in theis forum (dmaned if I can find it, however).

The hatband is a failry easy fix, but the sweatband, as I have said, takes practice. I would recommend practicing on a beater until you get the hang of it.
