I am thinking of purchesing a backpack or messinger bag for a trip, it must hard wearing, affordable, and waterproof or reseistant. Also, I don't want it to be leather and I want it to have lots of pockets. I am thinking of a reproduction military bag. Any suggestions on one or where to buy?

Twenty years ago I would have said buy the L.L. Bean bag and never regret it. Now I'm not sure of their quality but they still have a "no questions asked" return policy.

Mountainsmith and Lowe Alpine can't be beat for comfort, wear and adjustability.

There are some new and surplus military bags here.

Cheaper than Dirt Bags

Is something like this what your looking for?

Buy it and if you ever have a problem just send it back.Best warranty in the business! :)

Really, I did not know that, I knew they had a good warranty program, but not the best. Do you like the Khaki or Green color? I am leaning towards green, but I am just asking others opinions.
