Looking for any information any one might have. Not sure on exactly what year but I think about 1940 or so, made by Glen Brae Sportswear for United shirt distributers, never seen another one. There’s a label on the inside that says it’s an aviation jacket.

The zipper indicates a WWII production c.1943. I do not know Glen Brae Sportswear, the first I have seen of this label. It is not a military jacket, despite what the the label says. It was common to call jackets with the offset zipper an Aviation jacket.

Not sure what leather is is, perhaps a Pony Hide? Shame the leather is so damaged, it is an interesting jacket.

The pocket set-up looks like this Rubin Grais, also from the 40s.

Cool to see how they offered these jackets with leather sleeves or as vests.

Old Hercules, leather tag, Halfbelt. A disappointment. There were undisclosed condition issues and I’ve asked to return it. I would have happily paid 1/2 what I did, but at the sale price, these oversights are not acceptable. For documentation purposes:

My fear with this piece is that it will be a popcorn maker of burst seams. It’s extremely dry, stiff and sorely needs a drink. I only put it on briefly, and it fit, sadly, quite well. The original paper size tag is perfectly preserved in the handwarmers. All the pocket bags and the liner are mint. $300 I keep it, $600 I don’t.

Wow. How much does Dena charge to re stitch the entire jacket? $250? $300? Gotta be around there. Fit is dialed in too. Damn.

It’s a myriad of French seams. Very complicated. And fragile!

is that why most makers don't use French seams anymore? it really is nice to look at and it makes a big difference with the overlapping seam thickness and comfort especially around the shoulders

No doubt. It won’t be easy work, but that is one of the few jackets where it may be worth the expense. Maybe the seller can send $300 back to you?
