It’s a very nice hat. Generally speaking it’s tough asking for info on a hat you want to sell, because the folks giving you answers will also be the buyers.

I can see from you are looking at the Boss Raw Edge thread. That has almost all the info you need about the hat and I can see Brent has already giving you some great leads.

    Any specific questions?

    Bill,

I looked over under “competed listings” on eBay for Stetson Boss, Stetson Raw Edge, and Boss Raw Edge but the search terms don’t bring up anything relevant within their completed listings window.

The two recent sales I sent you on PM might be the best I can give you for reference, but to be totally fair the sample size is very small.

If you want to sell it here, given that it does not fit you, it could help to know whether it's too big or too small, and what your hat size is.

Love it. I am interested in knowing your hat size and whether this hat is too small or too big for you, as mentioned above!

Measure the front-to-back and side-to-side of the head opening precisely. That gives a good idea of the size.

Confirm the reorder tag states the size is 7 5/8. Thanks.

Disregard. I’m no longer interested in this hat.

Are there size tags under the leather sweatband?

Also suggesting you check for tags under the sweatband. Too bad you no longer have the lining.

Measuring front/back and side/side doesn't say much. What you need is circumference. But if there is a 7 5/8 reorder tag, that's probably all anyone needs to know. Just be sure. Also there might never have been a liner on this style hat. If it's in good shape, I'd probably give you $200.

Are there moth holes or bites? Is that sweatband stiff or soft? How are the threads holding the sweatband on?

Not so. Measuring the interior dimensions is more useful as it will describe the oval shape in addition to the size (wide oval, long oval, etc.) If you want to know the circumference of head opening with the axes known, this can be found by a number of online calculators and the result is likely to much more accurate than trying to stretch a measuring tape around the inside of hat.

For size, add head opening dimensions L + W in inches and divide by 2 to get the size in U.S. measurement. Using the seller's measurements, this hat would fit smaller than 7 5/8.

Slightly off topic, but I thought it was cool.

Neil Degrasse Tyson said you can find a hat size via dividing head circumference by Pi. It worked in my case, at least.

Absolutely... and a perfect explanation of why circumference (and hat size) tells you nothing about the shape of your head! That's why I've had to buy a few hundred hats to find one or two that fit right. ;^)
