It’s like watching the sun rise... except The sun rises much faster LOL
Thanks for indulging me, Joe. It helps me manage my anticipation.
These three should be here anytime now.
I ordered a black Campdraft from Hats Direct. This is the first hat I've bought in the last six years, and I look forward to getting it in the next week.
I have long wanted to add a Batsakes Bros hat to my collection but it may be a while before I make it down to Cincy....sooo, I put in an offer on Ebay and it was accepted. Downside is that it is a blue felt but supposedly it is made from vintage felt stock.
Made within the last 20 years or so, as they were on 6th and Walnut until they built the Aranoff Center where his old place was. It looks like a nice hat.
The 'story' as I understand it; the hat is a more recent build but made from some vintage felts he had in stock. I got a great deal on it and worth the risk just to find out in the off chance it is true. I tried to buy a more recent Batsakes build from a guy but the deal fell through. He did say the felt was very stiff (rabbit). So I hope this one is a nice felt. Thanks for the info. If I get to Cincy it will be to see the Reds play and to drop into Batsakes.
The downside is it’s blue? Blue hats can be spectacular…not all are, but some. I’ll admit that there can be too much of a good thing:
Yes, the Batsakes is a Midnight blue so it may not be enough of a good thing and too close to a black.
A bright mind calls for a bright hat!
That actually looks like a very nice hat, Brent.
Hey, I remember that hat!
Ah-ha! I remember that too. Not quite the muted cadet blue it was supposed to be.
This was listed as a 1960s Dobbs fedora. It’s a Twenty and I don’t think it’s 1960s. I’m hoping there’s a nice hat hiding in the seller’s low quality photos:
I almost went with charcoal ribbon, but in the end I went with a muted blue called “university.”
That would make a nice bowler!
