Nice looking Stetson Bowler, Randall.Everyone looks great in their spiffy hats today. Here’s what I’m wearing to go uptown to put some hard earned cash in the bank.
Glue down engineered flooring is rough on the knees! Still have another three or four days of it, too.[emoji15] View attachment 195694 View attachment 195693 View attachment 195692

It sure looks in good condition. Always a bonus if it has a connection to something close to home. Pickin' buddies you say. Banjo by any chance? Thanks,Steve. I sure like the hat you have on today! Don’t know about you, but that one’s my fav! ...so far.
I like that this hard hat was sold from Johnson city, Tenn. as I have a few pickin’ buddies from there.
It’s near mint for a tens/twenties bowler...except for the frayed trailing ends of the bow.
(wink, wink)

Johnson city is a long hike from the Georgia bottoms, but considering the distant planet where you are from, I suppose they are relatively close by. [emoji4]It sure looks in good condition. Yes, I'm going to reference this years-old post too. Reason being I'm interested in the work you did on the brim of your DM Adventurer. The downturn in the back brim is largely what keeps me away from this hat, but you seem to have rectified that issue. Did it take more than steam and the standard amount of patience to get the brim out of that downward swoop?Today David Morgan Akubra Adventurer. On my way to the auto parts store, have to repack some trailer bearings.![]()

Sounds like a great group for a Bluegrass band, Randall. When I said close to home, I didn't mean it literally. I should have said close to heart, apologies. Cool friends. I'm an amateur banjo player myself (very amateur). Clawhammer though, not bluegrass, though I do enjoy both styles.Johnson city is a long hike from the Georgia bottoms, but considering the distant planet where you are from, I suppose they are relatively close by. One of ‘em can play a banjer pretty fair, but he’s mostly a fine guitar player. The other one can start fires on the mandolin.
Also, though not a friend, a guitar player who is famous in the contemporary Bluegrass scene lives there, Tim Stafford.
At least I think he’s living there now.

Funny thing,I'm wearing that hat today.Pictures lie.It has a slight upturn to the back of the brim.Although I'm pretty sure I could get it to turn down.It would just take a little work.Yes, I'm going to reference this years-old post too. OK, thanks for the info! I might pick up a DM Adventurer someday and make that brim a "project."Funny thing,I'm wearing that hat today.Pictures lie.It has a slight upturn to the back of the brim.Although I'm pretty sure I could get it to turn down.It would just take a little work.
I have 5 banjos. 4 at home another at work. I'll just post this photo then pm you. This is a hat lounge after all. Don't want to bore the other guys [emoji4]Clawhammer? Y’all are clawing banjers way over yonder?? Wow! So, what style are you playing ... Old Time, Folk, Appellation Folk,
String band, Grandpa Jones Frail, or some kind of Denmarkian drop thumb style? [emoji3]
That’s awesome that you play! What kind of banjo do you own?
Judging from your fine collection of vintage hats I’d guess you have a really fine vintage open back?
