Thank you Brent. The proportions give it an interesting look - not quite dress or western - somewhere in between. The felt remains moldable to this day - I steamed it and removed the side pinches that I'd worn in the past. Some additional photos I posted when the hat arrived were shared here. Pay no attention to the young man underneath the brim.So many (all?) of your hats are things of beauty, but this hat is just perfection. It looks so simple, but even the best modern hatters can’t seem match it. There is some alchemy going on with these vintage masterpieces.
Great shape and love the colour of that wide ribbon, Joe.1955 Saks Fifth Avenue

Got caught in quite a downpour headed for the car.
I seem to keep repeating myself on my comments, but love those ribbon and bow treatments, Jim.Playing catch-up from the last few days...

Thank you Steve. This old hat certainly has its blemishes…. But it hides most of them well. Including what I’ll describe as mothing ventilation system (MVS) hidden behind the ribbon where the crown meets the brim.Great shape and love the colour of that wide ribbon, Joe.
If only we old guys could hide our blemishes as wellThank you Steve. This old hat certainly has its blemishes…. But it hides most of them well. Including what I’ll describe as mothing ventilation system (MVS) hidden behind the ribbon where the crown meets the brim.![]()
