But the felt days are upon us finally! Very nice Hückel, Steve.
For some of you. Over here in Japan, we’re still in straw. Etsuko was in her Borsalino…

Expecting to join the migration to felt in a week or so.
Here in Japan, we’ve just seen the end of Higan. Higan occurs for two weeks a year at the time of the equinoxes (three days prior to and three days after the equinox). It’s a time for people to visit and clean the graves of their ancestors. The autumn higan is particularly nice as the higanbana (literally higan flowers) are in bloom. They pop up everywhere, but particularly around the edges of rice fields, giving some quite spectacular splashes of red to the landscape.

Etsuko looks happier to be still in straw than you do, Gary. You look like you're yearning for felt...

Ha! Etsuko said I look like an obtuse old bugger in that photo!
And yes, I’m keen to get back to wearing felt. I still haven’t had a proper chance to wear the Homburg I got from Brent, nor the Flying Cloud I picked up recently.

Probably the last day this year I'll be wearing straw. A new Northwest Hats semi calado that I received last Thursday.

That has all the bells and whistles, Bill. Fabulous.

Starting the week with your hat parade always makes for a great start.
Thanks, Brent.

Very nice, Brent. Works well brim up.

It is chilly, rainy and raw this Sunday. Remnants of Ian is passing through these parts. I am not a fan of cold soaking rain as it seeps into my bones and makes me miserable.
Normally I reserve foul weather headwear for Akubras, but I deciced to change things up a little today.

I have always been a fan of the waxed cotton products made by Barbour. You might say I am a Barbourophile.

The hat is warm and functional and seems to do the job. A true rain hat.

It was a busy weekend. Friday called for grabbing my Carbon Grey Stylemaster heading out to work. Any well dressed firefighter, should have one! Seriously, hurricane Ian made landfall here in South Carolina and my Akubra held up to the task of keeping my head , glasses, and hearing devices dry. A win all around in my book!
