What shoes are You wearing during summer?

I've found the Vans I wear seem to last fairly well. I have one pair of slip-ons that will be going into their fourth Summer this year - don't know if that'll be their last, I'll see. They have been heavily worn (and through the wash a couple of times) and held up well. Four pairs of the Authentic lace-ups in different colours which wear nicely. I keep them in rotation so hopefully they'll last. I don't like them being disposable, but when the hellheat gets too much in June / July / August here in London (I'm uncomfortable in anything much over 24 Celsius, and I really struggle when it gets over 30), they help. Some perforated leather brogues are on my wishlist, though.

Mind, I only buy them on sale at £40 or less.... which would make them uneconomical to resole even if it were possible.

300 days? That would kill me! :D

I suppose anything lighter and more breathable than leather - like most canvas - just isn't going to be robust enough to support periodic resoling.

I've never tried them.... I was a bit put off for year at them having Miami Vice associations in my mind, but I might be tempted by a cheap pair this year, even if for just kicking around in the house when my Winter houseslippers are too warm. Always with socks, though. Can't abide shoes without socks!
Edward, peaked 46c last summer  hellish, Miama Vice haha seen a few Don Johnsons kicking around in tourist season, cool though, I only not wear socks with sandals, short cool socks with canvas slip ons

Eeps, 46 would definitely kill me! I've been out in Beijing in 39C, and I just wanted to lie on the floor and cry!

+46c would for sure be the end of me, no questions about it haha
Believe me the Spaniards or sensible people don't normally go out in that, haha verano or summer there is usually a exodus, August to the coast or to the mountains, bit like the old Romans, those who stay have good aircon, go out morning and evening, if you do work at those Heat times you have consensus to be inside or leave early as things close at 2.30pm and reopen later, everywhere has large awnings, fountains, trees,

Usually either repro WW2 roughout boots, or Foempies canvas sneakers. They are manufactured here in Belgium, have a cool retro vibe, are cheap, have an insole, vulcanized soles and last pretty well.

I found some PF Flier canvas sneaks I'm digging a lot. Bought two pair in different colors.

Owned by New Balance last time I checked, who at least then had a good ethical reputation. Always remind me of a Converse All Star, but with a little bit of a chunkier look. I like them.

I have to admit, I often wear "espadrilles" (with linen pants) in the summer...
Not durable at all, doubtful when it comes to looks, and the smell can be unpleasant according to some :D (I haven't had this issue)
But they're so comfortable !

Funny to see this thread pop up again; I've just this last few weeks put away my warm weather shoes for the season. The co-respondents went in mid-September (Labour Day not being a thing here, I've always tended to my mid-September birthday being the harbinger of season change), then early October for the desert boots. Out of the house I'm currently most often wearing either a pair of plain black loafers that are past their best (easy to throw on to take the dog out in the morning), a pair of knackered old Red Wing black boots (the cheaper, US workboot range. They won't support a resole when the heels finally get too worn down, and there's a small split already forming across the sole of one where it flexes, but for a pair of boots I bought no earlier than early 2012, with plenty of life still in them for dog-walking duties, they've more than given me back value for the seventy odd quid they cost on eBay. When I'm headed out out, my go-tos at present are two pairs of milspec shoes. One a pair of black Sanders capped derbies with a rubber sole, the other a similar pair of shoes in brown with a leather sole, and heel and toe plates which strongly announce my arrival in a tiled office corridor.

I do have a new pair of tan Herring brogues that are good to go soon (once I've had a rubber sole protector added over the sole), and I need to get organised and get my Iron Rangers resoled before the worst of the Winter hits. Not the cheapest of repairs, but the boots are overall in such good condition that it would be mad to spend three or four times what resoling will cost on a new pair. I bought those boots in the Autumn of 2012 or 2013 and they have been heavily worn since (including to the office with everything short of a lounge suit), so it's an investment well worth it if I get another decade plus out of them with a second sole. Externally, I could probably get away with just re-heeling them, tbh, but I think looking at relative prices the full soling is worth it.

Haven't had these for too long, but I got to wear these Russel Mocassin fishing oxfords for a couple months earlier this year. Quiet nice, but might not be everyone cup of tea.
