Who plays the Table Games at the Casino?

One big change from the past is the make up of who gambles at the casino and what they gamble on when "gaming."

In the 1930', 40's and 50's the table games: card games like 21 (blackjack), poker or Baccara, craps the ultimate dice game, roulette and others were actually the biggest draw for most casinos in Las Vegas. Back then slots were considered the realm of "dudes" (as in the cowboy / western cncept included in the dude ranch) and of girlfriends or molls.

Today slots, video poker and other machines are the number one draw and the main money maker for most casinos.

Are there any intreped souls that make the table games their main adventure when visiting the Gambling Establishment?

(I tend to play craps when I can during any visit to LV or Laughlin.)

Blackjack and craps only. My wife hits the one-armed bandits; I stay away. In So. Fla., we have enough Indian casinos to keep us busy (rumor is roulette and craps are soon to come).

Hi Folks

I have been playing Texas Holdem long before it was main stream. I play limit holdem unlike no limit limit the betting is in increments, no all in crap. Bluffing is not a major part of limit poker. I am also well versed in pot limit omaha, seven card stud and most all card games.
Interesting a Supreme Court Judge just recently ruled that Poker is a game of skill and not luck. I concur and have always felt the same.
However somedays I can't out run luck with my superior skill, the deck sometimes won't allow you to. However long term against the same opponents, I get the money. I just recently purchased 2 stetson's with some of my cash winnings from last week.
So in amswer to the OP question. I play poker. No blackjack, no slots, no dice, no roulette. I play against other people not against the house.
I recommend others do the same.
Best regards
CCJOE

I worked for a company years ago that every year they had several special events with table games... I played then, and I've played in Atlantic City, but haven't really had the disposable income these days to visit the casino. There's even a casino at Penn National, about 5 miles from my office, but haven't been there since the table games were brought in.

Today's electronic games aren't what you would call 'fair,' same as the old slots. Electronics just make it easier to program the patterns than the old days.

A nice combination of live and electronics is roulette with a live wheel and ball in the center, and personal electronic screens arranged around the wheel for betting. No matter crowded a table gets, you have room to place your bets.

I only frequent the casino for a day or two once a year, when I do make it to the floor, I usually play The Big Six which is a wheel/table game. I play Black Jack fairly well but havent gotten the nerve to try it on the casino floor yet.

No Limit Hold'em is my game of choice. I fell in love with it few years ago and nothing beats that IMHO. Usually with my mates, home games, but occasionally in local casino. 1/2 eur blinds.

I love playing Pai Gow Porker and have been known to set for hours while forgetting what is going on in the rest of the world.

Never gambled... I loved Vegas, and one of my current favourite cabaret venues is in the new Hippodrome here in London, but a firm awareness that only the house ever truly wins, plus an equally convinced belief that I will lose, has always kept me off the tables and away from the slots.

No casinos out here, but I'm as much a fan of a friendly game of poker as the next man. Typically a Five Card Draw sort, though Hold 'Em reigns king here. Blackjack emerges occasionally, and I'd love to get in on a (straight) game of Faro, but I might be the only fella for miles who knows the rules.
