So...you don't like hipsters.

Well No I don't. Here in Los Angeles they have caused pain and drove everything up in price.
Thrift stores started making "Vintage" racks and priced everything high. Some even just drove prices up on everything. $25 dollars for an 80s sportscoat? cmon, once i saw a 50s patch pocket sports coat with holes and stains for $50 dollars.
They also seem to believe Vintage is everything from the 70s 80s and even 90s.
It just made it harder for those now that were looking for true vintage before everyone called everything vintage, and I'm not alone.

I've been in thrift stores with hipsters. Our taste in clothing is so dissimilar I love shopping with them!
You take the 70s-90s and I'll take 30s-50s. It's a win-win situation.
What I hate is shopping next to a guy roughly my build in a three piece and a fedora..

Oh man don't we all.
But what I'm getting at is that your competition will appreciate the piece they find as much as you will.
It will be back at home so to speak. And not Ironically worn. That then becomes the true death of the piece.

I don't see anything particularly ironic or problematic about the marketing of this particular shirt. Even the price isn't too astronomical - it is Etsy, home of ridiculous prices, after all. Dude dares to have a beard and curly hair is all.

At least the shirt fits him. When I read the first post I was expecting a post with a great piece of vintage clothing being wantonly damaged, not just some guy who has a beard.

What is a hipster? I hear the term used a lot, but I've got no clue what it means.

Come to Brooklyn, it's swarming with them. It's like porn, I know it when I see it.
Can somebody do a better job than this description?
But seriously, folks. I agree with the Baron, the guy's only crime is being hairy.

And not Ironically worn. That then becomes the true death of the piece.

To be not worn is the death of the piece. To be tossed in the bin, or sitting in some attic until rot and mould and moths have their way. To be worn in one way or another is part of the piece's life cycle, and who knows how many owners it's had or will have?

the only 'golden era' vintage i've seen (male) hipsters wearing is workwear; chambray shirts, shawl collar cardigans, mackinaws, French work jackets etc.
and yes, prices for those items have gone rather mental in the last few years. i don't like it, but maybe that's because i can't afford a shawl collar cardigan anymore.
the poorer hipsters can usually only afford the 70s - 90s stuff. it's the rich hipsters i don't like.;)
