"At the flick of a hat", very interesting article. And so typical, whipping up the price... sounds like the old OPEC. Not, however, unreasonable. Wars have such effect, and no one could claim WWI being a mere storm in a glass of water.
I see the name of Belgium oft quoted; it was, at the time, under German dominion. I have oft read, such as in old Borsalino references, my country to have been the source of excellent quality rabbit and hare fur which, at first, (why with the "beaver" hype) appeared to be out of proportion, I mean, how could such a small country be considered so important in the fur trade? Needless to say, rabbit and hare, in Belgium, were coop kept, certainly not wild, hunted, animals. And I never knew of any important Belgian hat producers, either. Maybe I'm wrong about that?
