Wood hats - works of art

I was in Richland, WA last week for the Allied Arts Festival along the banks of the Columbia River. Spotted these wood hats on display by one of the vendors. They are absolutely beautifully made!

If anyone has a strong hankering to own such works of art, the vendor is Crosswoods, and their website is www.crosswoodsgallery.com in Kennewick, WA. They were tagged $700 and $900 if memory serves.

I have no commercial interest - just had never seen work like this before and thought you folks would like to see it. Incidentally, these shots were taken with a Palm Treo 755 phone.

Wood

In the Back Area of the resstauarant Valentino they have a wood fedora and trenchcoat hanging up that you pass by on the way to being seated.

The hats are hollow. Can you actually wear them? The wood is so thin I wonder if they might be fairly light - heavier than a normal hat, perhaps, but once they're carved to fit, they won't change shape much.

But would hatwearers even go for wooden hats? Seems to me, even only a very small percentage of Loungers would really wear such a thing.

Definitely curiosities - but some of the nicest wood work I've seen. The brims are only 1'* inch thick or so - really nicely done.

And yes, they're hollow so they could be worn if one felt compulsive.

Perhaps they'd be the "Pinnochio Fedora" line?
