Hi All,

After an exhausted search, I have just managed to buy a 1940's double breasted Demob overcoat (British) in my size!! My wife (who runs a patterning company) has suggested that I let her take it apart to pattern it so that she can make me a couple more. Obviously I am thrilled (I have no problems with her putting it back to it's original form (she's got 30 years experience) She knows that I have been looking for a very loooooong time Anyway, question is, do you think that this would be criminal to take apart an original piece in order to make a copy piece?

If it can be returned to wearable condition such that no long-term damage is done to the coat, I see no problem whatever with taking it apart. If your wife is in the patterning business, is she potentially considering selling a pattern based on your coat?
