Just a point of order but since this is a specific Panama thread, can we stick with the two Ps - Panama and Paja. The word, straw is much too generic for afficionados. 8-) -

Love the Kentucky Rancher. If you ever run across an Akubra Boss of the Plaines in size 59 let me know. So many Akubras out of production that I let get away. -
Now Forming! the Campaign Hat Corps
Watching "The Fighting 69th" on TCM. Oh boy! Plenty of campaign hat action in this one, and my man Jimmy Cagney . The hats were given out to new recruits open crown. Hat geek paradise seeing how all the 4 dents turned out. -
Trim a Panama?
Paja should last indefinitely if it's well cared for and it gets enough water although normal wear and tear takes it's toll. I would think a risk assessment would be in order before reblocking a hat.
