I’m thinking the same thing, but I’m also a little relieved because it means I don’t need to buy it.
It is a beautiful jacket in an uncommonly large size for Cal Leathers. GLWS!
Never in a million years would I imagine you being cast as the villain in any exchange here on the lounge. I find your posts to be concise, constructive, and almost uniformly positive.
Thank you @Peacoat! My presence here has waxed and waned as other hobbies grab my attention but I always find myself back at the lounge sooner or later.
When I came to the lounge back in 2016 it seemed like at least 75% of the new jackets here were CXL from Aero and naturally I had to join the club. My cordovan CXLFQHH Bootlegger is still far and away my most complimented jacket (Not surprising because it’s gorgeous) but it was never fun to...
And maybe we could all learn better than to try to help people who are looking to buy a Frankenjacket from Five Star. Aloysius is just trying to save you from yourself, that’s not insulting, that’s being helpful.
It might be even simpler than this. If the Five Star you receive isn’t right then you will be unhappy. In that case, it comes down to happy versus unhappy, and I always choose happy.
You only turn 40 once so get yourself something nice. I think Johnson Leathers would be a great resource here because they can make any jacket that you could imagine. They also have the experience to shepard your project so that the end result fits well and looks good.
I have jackets that I have worn hard for years and I have never had one come apart like that. I would reach out to Schott and request a repair or exchange.
